Like many non-profits, we count on our End of the Year Fund Drive to raise the money we need to balance our budget. During this End of the Year Fund Drive, we need to raise $250,000. What part of that can you help us with?
First of all, a heartfelt Thank You to all of you who have supported The Classical Station with your gifts in 2020. If you are a Sustaining Member, you help us so much with your regular monthly gifts of $10, $15, $20, or more. Having that predictable monthly income enables us to manage our cash flow efficiently. If you can increase your monthly gift, that would be awesome! You can do that online or call us anytime. 800-556-5178
What does our programming mean to you?
William writes in a review of our app: “Outstanding station that presents classical music in a most professional, friendly and informative fashion!” And Margie had this to say about our Sunday morning programming on December 20: “Today’s “The Messiah” performance is the best I have ever heard. Thank you again and again for your programming and commentary for Great Sacred Music. You are an absolute highlight of my week.”
We control computers. Not the other way around.
You see, we don’t let our computer software tell us what to play. That’s a decision which one of the most talented music directors in the business does. William Woltz has been listening to YOU, as well as to all the CDs he listens to every day. Your likes, and dislikes, factor into his decisions about what to program. That’s why you are going to hear the familiar sounds of a Brahms symphony or a Beethoven piano sonata. The twist which William adds is his selection of the artists performing for you.
Oh, and did we mention that you can see what we are going to play tomorrow, and the day after? You have our General Manager, Deborah Proctor to thank for that permission to forward-announce our playlists. We are one of two stations that are permitted to do that legally under the terms of the Digital Millenial Copyright Act of 1998. Deborah managed to get The Classical Station grandfathered in! You see, we were publishing our playlists in advance online back in September of 1998. That’s right! We’ve been online since the 90s!
Are you in a good position financially?
As you review your finances in this last week of 2020 and discover that you are in a position where you can give a bit more to your favorite charities, please consider making an additional gift to The Classical Station. Your generosity not only keeps the beautiful classical music playing 24/7, it also inspires other listeners to follow your example and support us.
We also can accept gifts of appreciated securities and gifts from your 401(k).
The CARES Act made changes in charitable giving.
Marty Lantz, CPA writes: “Section 2204 of the CARES Act allows for an above-the-line deduction of up to $300 per taxpayer for a cash donation to a public charity (other than a donor-advised fund or supporting organization under Sec. 509(a)(3)). The $300 limit applies to the tax-filing unit, so for those who file married filing jointly, the maximum above-the-line deduction is $300.” As always, consult your tax professional and/or financial adviser on all matters financial.
