I’m a native North Carolinian who worked as a commercial radio announcer and newspaper reporter for many years before returning to college to finish a long-delayed music degree. I have a bachelor of music in jazz performance in guitar from North Carolina Central University.
I began working part-time at The Classical Station in 1997 when I returned to college, and I came on board full-time in 1999. I’ve been the music director since 2006. In that role, I’ve overseen a major expansion of our music library holdings and the implementation of a comprehensive library database (MusicMaster) and digital storage and playback system (Wide Orbit).
The outcome of these ongoing efforts is to give our listeners a richer, broader, and more varied classical musical experience while remaining firmly grounded in the core repertoire of best-loved classical favorites.
In addition to my responsibilities at the Classical Station I enjoy performing locally as a guitarist and songwriter, including pit orchestra work for two community theater groups.
