Interview: Libby Larsen

This interview with TheClassicalStation.org explores Libby Larsen’s long career as a prolific American composer with a special interest in voice, opera, and the continuing life of older forms. She talks about early musical literacy, writing for women’s voices, composing operas, and using inherited genres in modern ways. The conversation is especially valuable for listeners interested in the profession as Larsen walked us through how a composer can build a huge catalog while remaining curious, flexible, and responsive to performers and commissioners.
