Interview: Daniel Gawthrop
Daniel Gawthrop explains his audacious decision to launch his own publishing firm, Dunstan House, in 1991. Driven by a desire to avoid major publishers who preferred “easily accessible, not very demanding short pieces,” he talks about the challenges and advantages of “going his own way”. In this interview Gawthrop discusses the importance of exercising editorial control to ensure that more serious and demanding works were made available in print, providing a vital lesson in entrepreneurial independence for artists.
