November 7, 2021 | 5:00 pm

For the opening recital of this year’s Organ Recital Series, Dr. Andrew Scanlon will play music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Nicolaus Bruhns, Pierre Cochereau, and Joseph Jongen on the Flentrop and Aeolian organs. The recital begins at 5 p.m.Admission is free.

Dr. Scanlon was recently appointed associate organist and choirmaster at the Church of the Advent in Boston, Massachusetts. From 2009 to 2021, he was the organ professor at East Carolina University as well as organist-choirmaster of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, North Carolina. “Solemn and Celebratory,” his CD recording of the Fisk organ there, elicited from one reviewer the comment that “both performer and organ seem to excel in [the] French Romantic repertoire” (The Diapason).
