Tara Lynn

Tara Lynn is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majored in Anthropology and minored in African Studies. After graduation, she became a personal assistant, a teacher’s assistant, and a physical education instructor. Tara began volunteering at WCPE in 2004 while working for Oxford University Press, but jumped at the opportunity to join the announcing team in 2005. After hosting Sleepers, Awake for 3 years, she transitioned to hosting Allegro and later As You Like It while acting as WCPE’s Arts & Community Liaison. She contributed numerous artist interviews to Preview!; created and hosted My Life in Music with guest hosts from the North Carolina Symphony; and founded and chaired the station’s Education Fund. In 2015, Tara left the station to coordinate REI Co-op’s Outdoor School for central North Carolina, which sparked her interest in wilderness medicine. During the pandemic, she trained as a nurse aide and phlebotomist which led to a position with an American Red Cross collecting life-saving blood products for three years. When Dick Storck, WCPE’s long time Program Director and Tara’s mentor, passed away in 2024, she returned to The Classical Station to provide support, training and continuity for the announcers. She particularly adores folk-inspired classical works, opera, and music for woodwinds. When she isn’t working, Tara enjoys international travel, gastronomy, mountaineering, weight lifting and spending time at home with her family.
