Warner is a recently retired OB-gyn physician who practiced in Raleigh for over 30 years. He grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Davidson College and Duke University Medical School. He is a past president of the Raleigh Academy of Medicine and the North Raleigh Rotary Club.
He and his wife Ellen have served as both deacons and elders at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. They enjoy three children, seven grandchildren, golf, tennis, skiing, and travel, especially Africa, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Antarctic Peninsula.
