Herb on the West Coast: I couldn't believe my ears while driving
on the East side of the Sierra Nevadas classical music coming
from North Carolina! I found out that the little town of
Hawthorne NV is an affiliate, broadcasting to the netherlands.
Thanks -- this fills a void in the mountain ranges where other
stations just fade away.
Mario in Quito, Ecuador: I am so pleased to run into your
station that streams beautiful music throughout the day. We have
no such station here; keep the world happy!
Judy in Maryland: I want to let you know that I became a member
in order to support the 24-hour web availability of your
station's music. I travel a lot for business and can't always
find good music at my destinations. This way I can listen to
WCPE anywhere, anytime.
Gamal in Cairo: I simply adore your station. I listen
constantly via internet, please, don't ever stop this great work,
I can't imagine my day without WCPE.
Sherri: I was at Wake Medical for an MRI, which I had never had
before. It was quite an ordeal, I was in that claustrophobic
white tube for 45 minutes and it was very unnerving. Fortunately
I was able to listen to WCPE. The hosts soothing voice and
fantastic selection of music kept me from panicking. I just kept
my eyes closed and hung on to her voice and the great music. You
have no idea how helpful it was!
Anne in Washington: WCPE had become a favorite with my
daughter's family - including her four year old son. While
driving home, I listened to your station and happily learned I
could hear you on the internet. Last weekend my grandson asked
his mom if he and I could listen to music together. My daughter
conveyed this message to me by phone and thus began a new ritual
in the family -- listening to WCPE together across the internet.
Itonde in Rwanda: The warmest of Greetings from Kigali. I
became familiar with your station which based in Houston last
January. My longing for classical music this summer while in
Rwanda has been satisfied! Thank you ... please continue such a
gracious service; you enrich the mind and make fit the soul. May
this letter find you in happiness and joy.
Caleb in Iran: I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know
that your free classical radio internet station is appreciated
all the way around the world by soldiers in Baghdad. Thanks!
From Lynn in Chapel Hill: I've been a listener and supporter for
many years. I never realized how vital you were in my life until
after my husband's death. I kept WCPE on all night and day so
that I wouldn't realize how empty the house was. You really
helped me through a difficult time. I look forward to many more
years of delightful listening.
Philippe in Bourgbarre, Brittany:
Bravo for this station!

Margaret in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada:
As of yesterday, I am receiving your music via internet while living aboard my sailboat for the summer. My winter home is in Washington, "Little Washington", North Carolina and there my stereo is on almost 24 hours a day. We have been avid listeners for years. My husband passed away almost 3 years ago, and listening to your music has been therapy for me. Right now I am listening to one of Beethoven's violin concertos and am absolutely taken by it. Such exceptional music, I love Beethoven. Thank you so much for internet streaming. Your music is a comfort to me.
Melody in New York, New York:
I sit in my office all the time and listen to WCPE. No one ever complains. I don't quite know how my image would change if they ever found my Missy Elliot collection, but keep the Mozart coming and we'll never have to find out.
Elisabeth in Walker, Iowa:
I listen to WCPE every day at work via the internet. Y'all play a great mix and I enjoy it very much. Thanks!
Elizabeth in Chelsea, Massachusetts:
I honestly have to say that this station is not only awesome but convenient. After a hectic day at work, I can just sit back and relax. Being a computer saavy teen of the 21st century it's a much needed blast to the past!

Mollie in Thousand Oaks, California:
I've been a listener of WCPE for several years, enjoying it at work and at home. My twin sister, who lives in Rhode Island, heard the station when she was visiting and asked for information about it, to which I gladly replied that she can listen to it online wherever she has an internet connection. I sent her the link, and she thanked me. She now listens to WCPE at work in Boston, where they recently lost their last classical music station! It's the best in the nation!
Rob in Aylesbury, England:
Really excellent station. Both in terms of quality of the content played and the music streamed, yours is by far the best classical station I have listened to.
Jonathan in San Diego, California:
Tara Lynn has just inadvertently introduced me into classical music. FYI - I don't listen to music at all (only NPR).

WCPE has become the background music of my life. I listen to it at home, in my car, and on my job -- everywhere. I find that I am calmer and more focused when I listen to classical music Now that I know (thanks to last night's announcer) that listening to classical music can elevate one's IQ by up to 15 points, I intend to play WCPE while I sleep as well! I need all the help I can get. Thanks for such a wonderful resource.
Judith in Cary, North Carolina:
I love listening to classical music. My 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Goodwin, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, used to play classical music to her students after lunch, so that's how I got introduced to it. Thank you, Mrs. Goodwin! My husband also likes listening to classical music. He says that WCPE stands for Wonderful Classical Performances Every day!!!
Diana in Williamsburg, Virginia:
I've searched the internet trying to find a favorite classical music station, and yours is always playing on my computer now. The music selections are wonderful and varied, and I always suggest you if friends need study music.
Russell in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada:
Thank you, thank you for being there. It is 5:30 pm EDT, and I am listening to a Tchaikowsky waltz while writing, which is what I do. I sent my small donation, and agree that you must have your periodical fund-raisers.
Jacob in Chapel Hill, North Carolina:
I love the fact that WCPE is continuing it's great classical music 24/7, especially since so many stations are dropping classical in favor of other, less desirable programming (i.e. Talk shows, Rap, Rock). Whenever I listen, wherever it may be, I am so grateful that WCPE is broadcasting both in North Carolina and across the world. Keep up the good work!
Manuel in Setubal, Portugal:
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Gary in Benson, North Carolina:
this is absolutely the best music for waking up in the morning and going to bed at night ... this station is very hypnotic and calming... the best music for when you want a fix of musical relaxation. this station is the best music to work to... eat your meals with... and you learn something cultural...
Jackson in Wake Forest, North Carolina:
WCPE is a great radio station that kids and adults can all learn from. Many students at my school listen to punk rock or pop. So, when I tell them I listen to classical music, they respond by saying 'Classical is boring.' My friends and I disagree. Every morning, I listen to classical music after reading an article saying that classical music makes you smarter. And it works! Either way, I still love listeing to these masterpieces on the station that always makes my day a happy one.
Joe in Durham, North Carolina:
The first classical music that I have a memory of was Wagner. My father gave an RCA, 78 RPM album of Wagner to my mother on Christmas day back in the late 1940s and my mother cried; and then played it for weeks. I just want to say that WCPE is remarkable, and I've listened to you via the Internet when I've travelled internationally. Thanks for superb programing!
Duane in Orlando, Florida:
I first discovered WCPE via the internet a few months ago and have been a huge fan ever since. Discovering your station has reintroduced me to the beautiful world of classical music and I am very grateful. Your music is truly a welcomed sanctuary and escape from the harsh realities of our world. If only everyone could take the time to listen to the beautiful music your station provides each and every day... what a wonderful world this would be. THANK YOU!
Ken in Garland, Texas:
This station is brilliant and hands down the best I have heard compared to modern mainstream stations. WCPE is easily an highlight of my day, and a discovery for good taste for all age ranges. Simply an art form of the best kind. Bravo!!!!
Laura in Oxford, Massachusetts:
I have loved classical music all my life and have an extensive CD collection. Nevertheless, I listen to your wonderful station virtually all my waking hours. Why? Well, I love the company. My spouse politely tolerates classical, so it is just wonderful to have friends to enjoy it with me. Thanks so much for your marvelous mix and your collective enthusiasm!
Richard in Clayton, North Carolina:
Imagine my joy when I dicovered WCPE shortly after moving to the area 4 years ago. A great classical music source in the south! It's on the radio in my office all day every day, and I am proud to support WCPE so the music keeps on playing. All those who appreciate the fine arts must support them so they are not swallowed up by pop culture. David Ballantyne is my favorite! May the music continue for many years to come!
Jorge in Puebla, Mexico:
I like The Classical Station... excellent music! I enjoy Peaceful Reflections with Rob Kennedy. It's a wonderful program with the best music!
Josh in Caroline, Virginia:
This is an amazing station! I was perusing the iTunes radio stations and fell in love with this one soon after I turned it on. Last night I heard the most beautiful piece of my life on this station (Prayer of St. Gregory by Alan Hovhaness)! I immediately switched right to the iTunes store to get that song! Thank you for this station and may you continue to prosper!
Jena in Apex, North Carolina:
I especially want to thank Tara Lynn for introducing me to so many beautiful works of music. Her selections are wonderful. I really want to thank her for introducing me to the Spanish Dances. I now have ALL the CD's offered on Arkiv and I absolutely love them. Also, my Mom passed away a year ago this month and the other night I heard "Sheep May Safely Graze". Truly, it is one of the most comforting pieces I've ever heard. Thank you, Tara. I enjoy listening and learning from WCPE.
Yvon in Dordrecht, Netherlands:
I like this station very much. I love it. The opera, especially Belcanto, is my favorite.
Hannah in Enfield, Connecticut:
I found WCPE while driving down on my weekly visit to my fiance in North Carolina, and I couldn't wait to drive down again after that. Thankfully, I found you on the internet, and I don't have to wait weeks to hear you! Thank you for providing such a great station for people of refined taste and open minds.
Frans in Krommenie, Netherlands:
Not a single classical station here worth listening to. It was a God's gift to find WCPE on my computer for over a year ago. And when I bought myself a set of speakers for my computer it's like magic. Even compared with the other stations WCPE is the best. The first thing I do on my computer is opening iTunes. click radio, click WCPE. 'Carpe diem' Oh... and I have the privilege to attend performances by the musicians in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam but seldom on radio not interrupted by noisy commercials! WCPE is a revelation. Keep up the good work!
Sue in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:
WCPE is the best classical station I have ever listened to and I am very glad to have stumbled across it on iTunes! Certainly not going to even try to check out other classical music stations! Your playlists helps broaden my knowledge of classical music (it's very hard to find here in the music stores in Malaysia) and I thank you for allowing me to fill my days with such brilliant music! The voices of your deejays are also the most calming voices I have ever heard on radio! Simply wonderful station! Keep up the good work!
Kent in Mokena, Illinois:
Here in northern Illinois we're in the beginning throes of a winter storm that's expected to last all day. Luckily, I can stay inside, work and spend the entire morning and afternoon listening to WCPE. Life is good.
Michael in Cologne, Germany:
Thank You for supporting my endless studytime before my exams with your music I'm listening every evening to your programme, you are great!
John in Lexington, Massachusetts:
At 93, I spend many hours during these cold winter months sitting in front of my computer listening to your beautiful music. When I listen to the Metropolitan Opera live broadcast, I feel as if I am carried back to the culture that existed when these operas were first performed. To those who listen to your station through their computer, I highly recommend upgrading the computer's speaker system with the Bose Companion 3 system. The enjoyment of listening to your music with full orchestral sound is beyond description.
Pat in Marshfield, Missouri:
I found your station while on a driving trip to NC last fall. When I returned home, I made it my listening choice to accompany me through my days. You never fail to make my life richer and more enjoyable. Thank you and please, don't change!

John in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma:
I am sitting at my desk studying the unspeakable beauty of the brain. The music of your station offers to its listeners the sounds of the ineffable transcendence of the unknowable beauty, compassion, and the essence of that which we aptly call Love. The sounds resonate in the mind and body the indecipherable language captured only by the heart and manifested by the soul. The universal unspeakable selflessly given by the kenotic nature of the composers, a nature that resides in us all. Thank you.
Kevin in Naples, Maine:
I am listening with my 4 mos old granddaughter in Naples, ME.
Jeff in Durham, North Carolina:
Last week, my stereo accidentally clicked from phono to tuner, and I haven't changed it back since. WCPE always has something excellent on. Keep up the good work!
Sara in Cary, North Carolina:
I love WCPE!! The music you play brings such joy and peace into my life. I always listen. I am enjoying teaching my children about classical music. Terry in Apex, North Carolina:
Your music soothes the mind and body during a long day at work! Bravo!
Paul in Middletown, New York:
I am a recent listener to your station. I searched it out on the internet after WGMS, in the D.C. area went off the air. I was in a panic because their morning announcer felt like a co-worker to me. I still miss him, but I am enjoying your station immensely, especially since you play complete pieces. It is so sad that there are so few classical music stations, but yours is top notch and I am sure I will feel the same about your announcers as I felt about James Bartel. Thanks for filling a void. If I could not play classical music on my computer at work I would probably crack up.
Jessie in Cambridge, Massachusetts:
I'm currently in my 3rd year of law school, and WCPE has gotten me through each and every one of my final exam periods. I dont know how I would have managed cramming all of the legal jargon into my head without your station in the background throughout my studying. When I graduate this upcoming spring, I know that it will be in large part due to WCPE. Thank you for helping me chug through all the law books!
Rob in Canberra, Australia:
It's 100 degrees Fahrenheit in Canberra today. So I'm just going to lie down under a fan and listen to WCPE. Thanks for the great music.
Ivo in Oporto, Portugal:
Hi people, I am working now so I will be quick, I'm in my house working for my master architecture degree and i love listen your radio, keep with the good work, really thanks for help me to be creative!!
Per in Copenhagen, Denmark:
Once a month I close down my telephones and e-mail in my office for a week to concentrate on my drawing board. At these times I close the door to my office and listen to your online station while working. Although it is a bit amusing hearing you talking about "night music" and "morning music" when it is broad daylight here in Denmark, your choice of music is ideal to work to, changing between all time favorites and those pieces of classical music one hears far too rarely.
Jake in Delray Beach, Florida:
Being born and raised in a classical ethnic music filled home, WCPE is very important to me. From the wind-up Victrola playing Caruso, Shallapin, Gila Curci, Alma Gluck, et al, to today's modern devices music is my life-line. Please do not stop playing.
Andrew in Bellaire, Texas:
I just wanted to let you all know that you have a great station and the signal is great all the way in Texas. I am a high school student and listen to you all everyday while I study. Just wanted to let you guys know you are doing a great job and the music is fantastic!
Janice in Sanford, North Carolina:
I am not a morning person! I am so thankful that my clock radio doesn't alarm, but pleases me with beautiful music to begin my day. My drive to work is energized because my car radio is tuned to you. And, oh, how I need that tranquil tune at noon, driving home for lunch. You also make my end of day calmer with your music. I am especially fond of the classical trivia you toss out to us. I don't know how I ever managed without this station. Thank you WCPE. None can compare.
S. Man in Bucharest, Romania:
A mesmerizing fact...to listen to the same music like so many other people spread all over the world... it's so great to share the same emotions with you all - any distance or time zone simply fade out!
Hillman in Warrenton, North Carolina:
Finally, a radio station that is true to the music and not advertisements!
Greg in Newark, Ohio:
I enjoy your station so much. I like the request at the end of the month. I like your DJS especially Deana Vassar, she is so good in emailing, when I have a question. Keep up the good work.
Claire in Indianapolis, Indiana:
Now that I have my new laptop up and running I can once again enjoy your wonderful classical programming at work! Thank you for the quality of your webcastin. While I contribute to my local NPR & classical stations, the convenience of using your internet broadcasts is more convenient at my office. I also want to compliment your programmer(s) on the quality and variety of their selections - what a pleasure to hear vocal music!
Dave in Raleigh, North Carolina:
Music has always been part of my life. From the time my father played recordings of Wagner and Beethoven in the late 30's I've been fascinated by music of many kinds. I grew up with classical and still love it today. I played Sousaphone in my high school band and need to hear a rousing march every now and then. I spun big band records during my Armed Forces Radio Service broadcasting days in the early 50's, and today I can't resist a Benny Goodman record.
Marcos in New York, New York:
Growing up in Greensboro and going to NC State for undergrad, you would think that I would have found you guys already. Instead it took moving to New York and in a search for classical music, opening itunes while studying for exams this year before I was enlightened. Thanks so much for making studying, just a bit more bearable.
Nancy in Olympia, Washington:
Wow! What a fantastic radio station and programming you have. I've recently started listening to radio with iTunes, which is great. I found your station through a Swedish Macintosh User Group... I had a minute and checked out your signal on my computer. I kept listening and have done so for most of the day. I love the technology that allows you to broadcast and for people from the whole planet to hear your programming!! Thank you!
Otis in High Point, North Carolina:
I have been a faithful listener now for about 15 years. I first started listening in my car on the way to work in the mornings - that was when there were a lot of problems with another station in Greenville horning in occasionally, now it is much better. Anytime I am at my computer it is on and anytime I am in my van I am listening.
Zak in Chicago, Illinois:
i moved from north carolina to chicago and i've yet to find a better station. so i just open up my itunes and listen to great classical music hundreds of miles away. thanks wcpe

Russ in Raleigh, North Carolina:
Through the wonders of modern technology, WCPE offers you instant and easy access to the grace and artistry of centuries past. And that's a sweet anomaly in this somewhat modern world.
Vanessa in Raleigh, North Carolina:
I have always wanted to listen and understand classical music. I started using your station for atmosphere in the lobby of my workplace and found that I really enjoy not only the music, but your station. As a hip hop fan that is not the norm, but what I appreciate is the passion and knowledge of the DJ's. Thanks for opening my world to something other than my norm. I will support your station anyway I can because you are correct when you say that not supporting WCPE is hinders the opportunity to reach other people.
Jenn in Farmington, Maine:
I just started listening to your station today and I have to say, it's one of the best classical music stations I've been able to fine online. Keep up the great work!
James in Raleigh, North Carolina:
Deana Vassar's voice is as smooth as silk!
Priscilla in New Bern, North Carolina:
Years ago, I used to listen to WCPE while working in Greenville. At that time, we could not get good reception in New Bern. Once I changed jobs and was back in New Bern, I had to give up WCPE and really wasn't happy about it. Now that I can listen to WCPE over the internet, I'm tuned in every day. I work at a free medical clinic and sometimes it gets chaotic. I love being able to go back into my office and listen to the calming classical music. Thank you!
Joan in Wake Forest, North Carolina:
I keep WCPE on 24 hurs a day right next to my computer. The music is calming and just beautiful. I'm sorry I can't make a donation right now as I am a senior citizen, living on a very low income.
Lea in Shanghai, China:
What can I say? I usually go to bed late and in many cases the only reason is the great music from WCPE. I am addicted to WCPE already.....Thank you!
Philip in Del City, Oklahoma:
I've already sent in a personal pledge with my compliments, but I want my comments to be public. I only get to listen at night when I study. I'm a college student and Tara Lynn on Sleepers Awake is always my company. She plays a very good list of music every night and is always so cheerful and very knowledgable. Thanks for everything. Its very peaceful in my apartment and my life now that I have made this station a part of my online life.
Mary in Durham, North Carolina:
I'm in my mid-30s and I love classical music. My introduction to classical was through watching Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes characters. I didn't know what it was at the time but it instilled an appreciation of classical music at a young age. Mel Blanc's genius brought the music to life for me through his cartoons. Thanks for your great programming.
Francisco in Juarez, Mexico:
Greetings to all the people that make this classical station posible, I listen to it most of the day. Cordiales Saludos!
Jane in Oxford, England:
I love listening to your classical music. I want to become an orchestral player in the future and listening to your broadcast really inspires me and pushes me to work that bit harder on the violin. I've got music college auditions in a couple of weeks and listening to your music really does help me to focus. So thank you.
Ricci in Hope Mills, North Carolina:
I am a teacher at FTCC in Fayetteville. The morning commute was becoming so bad that I hated to go to work. I found your station and now I can drive without the bothersome blood-pressure going up. Kathy in Kalamazoo, Michigan:
I was listening today (10/19) to a recorded comment from a police officer about how important classical music and WCPE is to him. Most of us can only imagine the level of stress that is an every day part of a police officer's life. That this officer finds classical music an essential part of his day is a tribute to its power to calm, sooth, and inspire. I listen all day long every day for those same qualities. I have it on at home for my dogs to ease their bordom and inactivity until my return. I also pledge to WCPE for the benefits great and small that classical music provides in so many ways.
Andrew in Madison, Wisconsin:
I rock out to WCPE every day. It helps me stay focused when I am cramming for my midterms and frantically trying to finish my papers. You have great programs that wonderfully express the variety in classical music.
Brad in Gastonia, North Carolina:
Former native of Raleigh and Chapel Hill (where I attended undergrad, medical school and residency) but moved to Gastonia 8 years ago to practice. I have really really missed WCPE these years but JUST discovered I can listen again over the internet! Would like to give my compliments to the station for their continued excellence and commitment. Also, would like to thank Tara Lynn for keeping me company for a brief time with that great radio voice while I was admitting a child with bad case of croup. Cheers!
Izza in Manila, Philippines:
I love classical music! In our country, there's only one station that I know of that plays classical music. I am so thankful that WCPE is available in the internet. Now I can listen to it anytime of the day. I am also glued to all the information about the music you play. Keep it up!
Laura in Raleigh, North Carolina:
I never realized how much I take WCPE for granted! I was listening to a classical station in DC and a lot of obnoxious ads came on! I love waking up to the beautiful music in the mornings, thanks!!
Jason in Orange County, California:
As a Chapel Hill native, I grew up with the best classical station I have ever listen to...and now as I have entered the coprarate world in CA, I can still enjoy the best classical music via the internet... Keep up the good work WCPE!
Amanda in Chapel Hill, North Carolina:
The CD player in my car broke so I was listening to my Ipod with Itrip while driving. One time I forgot my Ipod and discovered your station. Now it is all I listen to in my car and I listen on Itunes when I'm in the house. Thank you for providing non-stop, beautiful music to the world!
Juan in Chapel Hill, North Carolina:
I am a Freshman at East Chapel Hill High. I have always loved and admired your station. It not only is a beautiful station musically, but a wise station economically. To rely on donations instead of commercials is such a great way to pay the bills. I think you are an example to other stations. I am a Chilean by birth and I first fell in love with classical music when I watched Disney's Fantasia at home. Your music was and is fantastic. Thank you very, very, (and a billion more verys) much for this music. It is a true light in my life and helps me cope with stress from school.
M. Claire in Mebane, North Carolina:
The Classical Station means and does so much for me as a 17 year old young woman! It is easy to get stressed, especially when newly driving; the classical music provided and the softspokeness of the people are relaxing. Even outside driving, classical music is my preference to everything else. I love it and wish I had money to pledge to show my appreciation!
Rachel in Halfway, Missouri:
Listening to music always helps me relax while I am doing my school work. I have really enjoyed listening to your station on the internet. I also appreciate the opera on Thursdays and Saturdays. Thank you so much for making all of this wonderful music available.

I am a graduate student who has been diagnosed (a few years ago) with adult Attention Deficit Disorder. As I am, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the amount of homework and reading I have to do. But I play your station over my computer with headphones...and I am amazed how it keeps me on task, relaxed, and alert for hours longer than I could ever imagine myself being. THANK YOU! What a WONDERFUL station.
Dave in San Francisco, California:

I want you to know that this music is solely responsible for keeping me calm over the last few years. Thank you so much for allowing me to live my life with such peace and beauty!
Kyle in Chapel Hill, North Carolina:
Classical music transforms the "humdrum" of grinding nine to five into a wonderous medley of human action. It has changed my morning commute from a painstaking nuisance to something I get excited for; Classical music, particularly mellow piano concertos, are the soundtrack of my life, the background of my day to day existence.
Malcolm in Pittsboro, North Carolina:
Several months ago before my 20th birthday, I began to explore classical music on a deeper level, committing to listening to WCPE daily. The effects it had on my mind were staggering, but my personal growth paled in comparison for what was to come. Shortly after, I fell in love with a girl. The connection we share is profound, and I feel that the deep, universal hearkenings of classical music are fundamental to our relationship. Thank you.
Brandon in Salem, New Jersey:

Thank you for being my salvation that particular day, and thank you for continuing to bring me beautiful music.
Ali in Boras, Sweden:

Nisson in Netanya, Israel:

Eleanor in Honesdale, Pennsylvania:
When our local tv company took WCPE off and replaced it with ghastly pop music a year ago, I was devastated. A couple of weeks ago I heard a friend remark that she got it on FM cable, and today, after a great deal of difficulty, I succeeded in getting it. This makes my life so MUCH happier. (When I read the comments, I was interested that there was one from someone else in my town.) There is only one problem: I hear something and I want to buy it thus causing potential financial disaster! This, however, is a problem I am glad to have.
Walter in Amsterdam, The Netherlands:
Excellent programming! In fact, I just heard a beautiful pianoconcerto by Moszkowski (op. 59) which I had never heard before. Instantly bought it through your link to Arkivmusic.com

The variety of selections played on WPCE is unrivaled by any other classical station available. I live in a small town where classical music is almost extinct. Your music is astounding.

Michael in Belize City, Belize:
You are my lifeline to classical sanity. I'm married and have lived contentedly in Belize, Central America for 13 years. I love it here. But when I'm over my head in hip-hop and dance hall, I have WCPE to take me back to my classical, Canadian roots. I run an applied research institute for Galen University here and I lecture. When it's time to sit at the computer and write -- the new book on Belize is "The Power of Greed" -- I put on the earphones and crank up the classical stuff. Thanks WCPE!

In this day and age of where shallow and brusque music is the rule, it is always a great comfort to be able to savor the exquisite mastery of art captured by the masters. I'm a college student. First thing I do when I wake up in the morning is to turn on my computer and listen to 'Rise and Shine.' When I come back to my apartment in the evening, I turn on 'Allegro' before I even put down my backpack. WCPE has become such an important part of my life, I can't ever imagine getting through a day without listening to it!
Franz in Hollister, California:
This morning I listened via internet to a presentation of Brahms' German Requiem on WCPE. The broadcast was done in response to a request my mother made in her will; she died last May. She loved WCPE. In her last years I would visit her in Chapel Hill, and I would always find her sitting in her chair with this station at fairly high volume surrounding her with sound. Thank you to the people at WCPE answering her bequest and giving me an occasion to remember.

Tony in Reston, Virginia:
Among many other scandals, the Washington, DC area just ended all non-commercial classical music broadcasting. (There's a pretty good classical station in Baltimore, but its signal here isn't the best..) I recently got broadband and, as a former NC resident, my first move was to find WCPE. Now you're my constant companion. You're my local classical radio station, and I'm proud to be a contributing member. Keep up the great work!

Charlotte in Fayetteville, North Carolina:
Yeah! 95.3 works great in Fayetteville. For some weird reason when I turned on my rear window defrost in the car the 89.7 signal would get lots of static. Now I can turn on my defrost and the signal is still clear. Thanks!!!

I love listening to classical music! I am thirteen years old, and all I ever hear at in the dorms here at North Carolina School of the Arts is pop "music", if you can call it that. When I am writing a paper for English, I love turning on WCPE. It helps me to think better. I have always liked classical music, and nothing anyone can say will change my mind. Thank you WCPE for brightening up my dorm!!
Jonathan in Holon, Israel:
Just to say thanks for such wonderful programs. The first thing I do when I wake up my computer in the morning is to go online and tune into WCPE. It accompanies me throughout the day and is the last thing I turn off at night. (Of course I do have another life, and even manage to eat - sometimes).

Thankfully I am able to listen to WCPE over the Internet while I work, providing me with the wonderful music that I have grown to love, and an occasional real voice from the outside world. I will continue to support, as much as I can, the streaming of the music over the Internet.
Victor in Chicago, Illinois:

Thank all of you at WCPE for your great work and of course the free webcast!

My thanks!

I am in college right now, and am getting loans to finish school, so I have only been able to contribute a small amount compared to what it deserves. This is why I am writing to thank all the other listeners out there who make it so that I have this wonderful service that I don't think I could do without.
Hughie in Blackpool, England:

Thanks for your webcasting! Now WCPE can be as much a part of my listening day whether I'm in your signal area or not. I've started listening via my Powerbook for several reasons: the quality of the musical playlist, the knowledge of the announcers, the fact that it's 24/7 classical music and that the station is totally independent. Thanks WCPE and Ms. Proctor and staff for the pure beauty of the music!
Russell in Raleigh, North Carolina:
WCPE is simply in a class by itself. Essentially powered by love, the station effortlessly takes the listener to a world far removed from the tangled jangle of this modern era and educates his ear with the work of great minds.
Terry in Los Angeles, California:
What a smartly run classical music station. Thanks for effectively spreading the gospel of spiritually edifying music.

Amorn in Chiangmai, Thailand:

I just discovered your station and it's what I've been needing! The only classical station here in San Francisco is so full of commercials, it actually increases anxiety instead of alleviating it. So thank you, WCPE will be a big part of our home from now on.
Shahram in Toronto, Canada:
These splendid rhythms make me feel empowered to embrace the daily hassless of my hectic life. Thank you for providing this unique service.
Mark in Fountain Valley, California:
Thank You WCPE for letting me work to the music of the greats -- online. Just imagine what these composers would have thought about their creations being played for anyone in the world - centuries later. In our loud, hectic society people need to find the joy of true instrumental music.
Robert in Washington, North Carolina:
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the wonderful music on WCPE. My life is much richer because of WCPE!
Igor in Sheffield, England:
I've been listening to WCPE for 3 years now, and it's decidedly the most un-biased and best classical music station I've ever come across. Thank you ever so much for bringing the world the wonderful music!!
William in Harlingen, Texas:
Here, in deep South Texas, great classical music is hard to come by. Your "Sleepers Awake" from 11:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. is most graciously welcomed by myself and others. Many times I go to work sleepy because I have spent early AM hours listening to your station. Thank you so much and keep the classical coming.
Larry in Stamford, Connecticut:
I recently discovered WCPE online and I enjoy it. At a time when many classical stations have stopped streaming or have changed formats, it's encouraging to learn what you have and continue to accomplish. Your programming is professional and great to listen to. Thank you for a great radio station.

WCPE has been a part of our family since its inception, and we can't imagine not having it on 24/7. It is the only station to which we listen. Again, so many thanks to you all.

And look at you now... broadcasting all over the world. I hand it to all of you and to Deborah Proctor, who had the vision.

Dave in Plymouth, Wisconsin:
Your programming is the best thing I've found on the Internet. I work at home and love to have your music on. Your on-air hosts are excellent, each in their own unique way and make me wish now and then I could stop in and have a cup of coffee with them. Thanks for this truly unique and uniquely valuable service.

J. in Carrboro, North Carolina:
WCPE saved my tail tonight! I have to listen to WCPE to study but my stereo is on the outs and I've been dying here trying to study. Tonight I remembered the online streaming and thank goodness! What a wonderful service! Now I can study in peace again! Our family donates every year, but I think I'll send something in personally when this broke college kid gets enough $! Thanks WCPE!!

I just came accross your station as I searched the web for a classical station. I keep it on all day at my workstation in the bank, and have it going at home as soon as I turn my system on when I arrive from work. You are great! As an international banking officer, I am looking forward to getting a hold of you wherever I am in the world. I'll be in Turkey next week and I will search you after I return to the hotel from my appointments; I'll do the same from Amsterdam the following week.

Paul in Hualien, Taiwan:
It's sound from heaven! I turn on my computer all day long and let my office fill with your music. I love WCPE.
Joe in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:
I live in Kuala Lumpur where classical stations are unheard of. What we get here is pop, metal and rock music other than the local native language (Malay) stations. I found your station today an I am very pleased with your quality of selection. Some stations play mostly modern classics which I find them too noisy and stressful to listen to. I listen to classical music when I work. it relaxes me. Thanks for thinking of our needs. Keep up the good work.

Gordon from Washington:
I ran across WCPE on satellite. What a great station! Classical music 24 hours a day! No ads (so I will help support it as I am able, even though I am retired now on a fixed income). My satellite receiver has been tuned to WCPE almost all of the time since I found it!
Itonde in Kigali, Rwanda:
The warmest of greetings from Kigali, Rwanda, where I am currently tuned

Sandra in Cupertino, California:
Eureka! The classical repertoire I was looking for, and I can count on your broadcast being always ON! Right now, I can only get music over the internet, so it has been great to find a station like yours, with such great music! Your excellent repertoire represents a true oasis of tranquillity.
James in Edmond, Oklahoma:
I love to listen to your station via Internet!
Robin in Exeter, England:
As a computer programmer, I listen to classical music on earphones while working in the office. WCPE has the best selection of listenable music I have found, with no advertising, popular or weird music to disrupt the flow. Thank you for an excellent station.
Alex in New York City:
Great station! Nice variety of classical music. It's great how you are not obsessed with your top 100. There is plenty of airtime to intersperse it....for example, loved "Afternoon of a Faun" today! Also, you can look at the upcoming schedule if you have to step away.
Wilson in Taipei, Taiwan:
I love WCPE. It's so great to find it on internet!
Mary in Harper Woods, Michigan:
How wonderful to find a classical station that plays only classical and doesn't intersperse it with jazz and bluegrass. Those of us in the Detroit area were left with nothing when our classical station was converted to a heavy metal station. My deep appreciation to the station and its supporters to enable me to listen to these wonderful selections.
Bill in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida:
Keep up the EXCELLENT programming. We listen to you in our office all day every weekday.

I love this! I usually listen to my
local classical station on the radio, but when I found you online today I
was so thrilled because now I don't
have to get up and reset the radio
when the station drifts.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dennis in California:
It is a sincere pleasure to listen to your selections while working away. Your choices are superb and your listeners appreciate your selection of the classical top 100, mingled with some obscurities we have perhaps forgotten. We have the choice to listen to other excellent web sites, including Cologne, up-state New York, Detroit and the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I, personally, have optioned to return to North Carolina. Keep it coming and I am glad to be a California subscriber!
Michelle in Vancouver, Canada:
I just wanted to thank you for the many hours of enjoyment I've had listening to WCPE while working at the City of Vancouver. I've had many of my coworkers comment on the 'lovely' music coming from my work area. As I am on the other side of the continent I also enjoy the 'Tornado Warnings' just to see the looks in their eyes.
Andreas in Oppenheim, Germany:
Thank you for delighting my heart and soul during my work. You're my favorite station and I am glad to hear that it is possible to run a station by contributions.
George in McComb, Mississippi:
You answer the need for what a good format should be in that there is just enough talking to keep up the level of anticipation. Keep the wonderful music and programing coming out of North Carolina .
Joseph in Delray Beach, Florida:
I discovered your station last night and it is trruly a breath of fresh air. I teach music to seniors in South Florida.
Hazel in South Africa:

Alec in New Zeland:
This is New Zealand. Wow what a signal. You are now my favourite classical station. Must think about sending you a contribution. Thanks for all the pleasure you give.
Jaye in Jacksonville, Florida:
Thank you for providing such BEAUTIFUL classical music through the computer. I appreciate this more than I can ever say. I love classical music and live in Jacksonville, FL. Our one and only classical radio station was taken away and replaced with more "talk radio." Anyway, even though I only get to listen during the week while I'm at work, I appreciate you very much and love the music you play.
Jennifer in Chicago, Illinois:
I love WCPE so much! The music and announcers are perfect. I am a receptionist for a law firm and listen to WCPE all day long. Not only do I benefit from the variety of soothing to energizing classical music at work, it sets such a peaceful tone in the lobby for clients and visitors. Keep up the excellent work.
Richard and Patricia in New Bern, North Carolina:
Thank you, thank you WCPE. It's so nice to have a "true" classical music station in the New Bern area. Your selection of music and general programming is just great, not to mention beautiful.
Anthony in San Diego, California:
I'd just like to let you know that I am very excited to have discovered WCPE online. I listen every day, all day at the office.
When the work day is about to get the best of me, I just bump the volume a tad and lose myself in the music of the moment.
Gary in Dubai:
Just a note to say, yes you are listened to around the world. I'm enjoying your music here in Dubai, in the Persian Gulf. Many thanks!
Michelle in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio:
I discovered your online station a couple of days ago and now keep it on all day at work! It's great!! Thanks for the commercial free broadcasting - I get sick of all the commercials on the other stations. You all are appreciated. :)
Gordon in Vieques, Puerto Rico:
WCPE mix is the best I have heard.
Thank you for sharing the precious gift of classical music with every child that has an internet connection.
As classical stations disappear from the airwaves in every U.S. town, your technology and generosity come to the rescue!
