Interview with the Conductor to Air Sunday, March 23

WAKE FOREST, N.C. The interview will air during the station’s Sunday, March 23 program that runs from 6-9 p.m.

“Manze is the violin star of early music,” says Deanna Vassar host of Preview!. “He is known for his spontaneity.”

Manze and Vassar will talk about how spontaneity makes a performance. In addition, they will discuss the upcoming performance at Duke University.

On Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m., in Duke University’s Page Auditorium, Manze & the Helsingborg Symphony will offer a program entitled “The Eroica Effect: Beethoven's Third Symphony.” The evening will feature both discussion and a full performance of the famed Eroica.

About Andrew Manze:

In 2006, Manze became the chief conductor of the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra. He is a gifted speaker whose work as a performer and commentator has earned prestige the world over. As a conductor he is a dynamic leader, directing orchestras around the globe in baroque, classical, and modern repertoires. As a violinist he plays with what the Boston Globe calls "sizzling virtuosity," skill, "so intense that it almost leaves a whiff of hellish sulfur hanging in the air."
