Barry Douglas to be Featured on WCPE’s Show “Preview!”
Interview to air Sunday, August 5 at 7 p.m. ET
WAKE FOREST, N.C. (August 1, 2007)—TheClassicalStation.org announces today that its weekly program “Preview!” will feature an interview with pianist, conductor and recording artist Barry Douglas. The interview will air Sunday, August 5 at 7 p.m. ET.
During the show, WCPE’s Larry Kirwan will sit down with Douglas to discuss his role as founder and artistic director of the Camerata Ireland orchestra and his lifetime of accomplishments and achievements. Douglas will also share his U.S. tour plans for 2008.
“I have enjoyed Douglas’ interpretations and piano styling for several years,” says "Preview!" host Deanna Vassar. “With Camerata Ireland, Douglas conducts pulsating musical journeys through the sheer strength of his presence.”
“Preview!” will be playing an excerpt from Douglas’ recording, "Beethoven Piano Cycle," with Camerata Ireland. Camerata Ireland provides opportunities for the best of young Irish musical talent from both Irelands, North and South, to learn, tour and play with the best musicians from around the world with the potential of going solo.
“Preview!” airs every Sunday evening from 6 p.m.–9 p.m. ET and presents the latest in classical recordings and upcoming classical events.

About Barry Douglas:
Barry Douglas first studied the piano in Belfast at age 16. Later, in London, he studied at the Royal College of Music. Douglas is a multi-medal winner and most recently was awarded Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2002. He also received a Fellowship from the Royal College of Music where he is Prince Consort Professor of Piano. Douglas holds an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Queens University Belfast. Douglas has performed with every major international orchestra and collaborated with conductors such as: Colin Davis, Jansons, Masur, Maazel, Previn, Rostropovich, Tilson-Thomas and Temirkanov.
