For Immediate Release:

WCPE wraps up Fall Pledge Drive with $485,000

WCPE's Fall Pledge Drive 2005 ended Sunday night. Now The Classical Station is back to doing what it does best -- presenting complete, uninterrupted works by the greatest composers of all time, 24 hours a day, with no commercials.

WCPE fell short of its fall fundraising goal of $640,000. Still, listener generosity allowed WCPE to raise $485,000 in pledges, every bit of which will go to support Great Classical Music.

A total of 4,415 listeners made pledges by mail, email or telephone during the fall campaign.

Anyone who would still like to pledge may do so by calling 1-800-556-5178, or by visiting TheClassicalStation.org on the Internet.

WCPE thanks its listeners for their generous support.

WCPE is a non-commercial radio station based in Wake Forest, N.C. The radio station's mission is to bring Great Classical Music to everyone, everywhere, free of charge. WCPE has broadcast for more than 27 years, and since 1998 has employed satellite and Internet technology to reach listeners beyond the traditional limits of its FM radio signal.

WCPE serves central North Carolina and southern Virginia with a 100,000-watt signal on 89.7 FM, broadcasting from northern Wake County. Other repeater stations bring the station's programming to Bath, New Bern and the Sandhills communities of Aberdeen, Foxfire, Pinehurst and Southern Pines. A partnership with WUNC Radio brings WCPE to the North Carolina Outer Banks over radio stations in Manteo and Buxton.

Affiliated radio stations and cable TV systems across the country carry WCPE's Great Classical Music by satellite, and owners of home satellite receivers are also among WCPE's listeners and supporters. In addition, WCPE streams its programming on the Internet in five distinct formats, to reach the widest range of listeners.
