WCPE Fall Pledge Drive nears goal

More than 6,400 listeners pledged to support The Classical Station, WCPE, during the radio station's Fall Pledge Drive ending Friday evening, Oct. 11, 2002.

WCPE received pledges totalling $482,000, or 96.4 percent of its overall goal of $500,000. With the total so close to the goal, station management kept its promise to end the pledge drive on Friday.

"Now we're so close to the mark, we're confident we'll be able to tell you that we've hit the mark after the mail comes in this week," said station manager Deborah S. Proctor.

Listeners who did not have an opportunity to pledge during the on-air fund-raiser are still invited to mail in a tax deductible-gift. Listeners may also pledge from WCPE's website, TheClassicalStation.org.
